Before I start this blog, let me send out our thoughts and prayers to the first responders in Phoenix. They had a very bad weekend having lost both a firefighter and a policeman in separate incidents. Both were young men with families and our hearts go out to the families and friends of those two brave men. Rest in Peace!!
And we just saw on TV a tornado has touched down today in OK City.....special thoughts and prayers to the folks in that part of the country. Stay safe....

We had an enjoyable weekend in Westminster, CO although getting to visit with Dick's friend from his working days didn't pan out. Wayne did something to his hip/back and was barely able to get out of bed and ended up in the ER so we just 'did our own thing' on Friday night and Saturday, then left on Sunday. Weather was beautiful while there so we drove around the area, and had a wonderful dinner at Saltgrass Steakhouse.
Sunday morning we hooked up and left a beautiful warm morning in Westminster and headed towards Gillette, WY. The weather changed in WY to rain and wind although nothing serious when we had quit for the day at about 3 p.m. There aren't many RV parks in Gillette so we opted to stay in the Kmart/WalMart parking lot (unusual to me to see both in the same parking lot). By an hour later it was really windy and raining heavily and getting colder by the hour. It was going to be a longgg night. We always check at the stores to make sure it's ok to overnight in their parking lot, and most times it is, as was the case there and we were glad we were off the road. Dick fired up the generator and we had a little dinner, watched some TV and called it a night. This morning there were several other RVs and semis there who had joined us which is what the lady at KMart told me would happen.
The temperature was 49 this morning as we left Gillette and made our way across I90 towards Rapid City. We had rain and wind all the way but just as we exited here in Rapid the wind picked up and I could hardly get in and out of the RV and it is COLD!!!! We are set up here at the campground and are 'rockin' and rollin' as Dick calls it with this wind. Even Murphy doesn't want to go outside!!! The rain has stopped but the temp is 50 and I swear the wind is blowing close to that which makes it seem even colder. It is supposed to be this way most of the week so I don't think we'll be doing too much sightseeing. We have already dropped our bikes off to 'Cranky Jeffs' in downtown Rapid for service. We bought them there 2 years ago, and he's giving us a 'free' service check on them. Love the name of that shop and he's such a nice guy and a pleasure to do business with.
There is sure a lot of wide open space in WY and we did see several trains loaded with coal so the couple of mines we passed en route to Gillette, we presume were mining coal. I'll attach a picture or two taken as Dick was driving and it was raining so not the best pictures.
As I sign off, I will say this is a special day in our lives as it was one year ago today that Dick went to the hospital and they said he'd suffered several strokes. Wow.......time flies and he's doing great and for that we're grateful. Enjoy today......we don't know what tomorrow will bring!

| Hard to see but from road but appeared to be where they were mining coal. The trucks look so little going up and down into the mine |
